We sing about the goodness of God and we talk about it, but what does it really mean that God is good. And how is his goodness\u00a0good news\u00a0to me. As I celebrate the goodness of God how will it change me?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Scripture&#8230;\u00a0<\/b>Oh, taste and see that the\u00a0Lord\u00a0is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!\u00a0Ps 48:3\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Story&#8230;\u00a0<\/b>Mark Chapter 10:18-22&#8230;\u00a0&#8220;Good teacher what must I do to inherit eternal\u00a0life?&#8221;\u00a0the rich young\u00a0ruler\u00a0asked Jesus\u00a0&#8220;why do you call me good? No\u00a0one is good except God!\u00a0You know the commandments,&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0Jesus\u00a0said. The guy told Jesus that he had kept them all&#8230; Jesus looked on him with\u00a0love\u00a0said\u00a0&#8220;You lack one thing: go,\u00a0sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have\u00a0treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.&#8221;\u00a0He called him to discipleship and to be good like\u00a0God\u00a0but it was too much for the rich guy&#8230; &#8220;Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<b>Head&#8230;\u00a0<\/b><b>What\u00a0<\/b><b>does it mean to say God is good<\/b><b>?<\/b>\u00a0<br \/>\nPs. 119:68\u00a0You are good and do good;\u00a0teach me your statutes.<br \/>\nJeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the\u00a0Lord, plans for welfare\u00a0and not for evil,\u00a0to give you a future and a hope.<br \/>\nJames 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from\u00a0the Father of lights,\u00a0with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.<br \/>\nRomans 3:23-25\u00a0for\u00a0all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,\u00a0and are justified\u00a0by his grace as a gift,\u00a0through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,\u00a0whom God\u00a0put forward as\u00a0a propitiation\u00a0by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God&#8217;s righteousness, because in\u00a0his divine forbearance he had passed over\u00a0former sins.\u00a0\n\u00a0<b>Heart&#8230;<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>How\u00a0<\/b><b>will God<\/b><b>&#8216;s Goodness change my heart?<\/b><br \/>\nPsalm 31:19\u00a0Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!\u00a0<br \/>\nRomans 8:28\u00a0And we know that for those who love God all things work together\u00a0for good,[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+8%3A28&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-28129a\">a<\/a>] for\u00a0those who are called according to his purpose.<br \/>\nGalatians\u00a05\u00a0But\u00a0the fruit of the Spirit is\u00a0love, joy, peace, patience,\u00a0kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,\u00a0self-control;\u00a0against such things there is no law.<br \/>\nMicah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?\u00a0\u00a0\n<b>Hands&#8230;<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>How does knowing the goodness of God call me\u00a0to\u00a0daily live<\/b><b>?<\/b><br \/>\nRomans 2:4 Or do you presume on\u00a0the riches of his kindness and\u00a0forbearance and\u00a0patience,\u00a0not knowing that God&#8217;s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?<br \/>\n1 Peter 2:1-3 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.\u00a0Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual\u00a0milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation-\u00a0if indeed you have\u00a0tasted that the Lord is good.<br \/>\nPsalm 84:11 For the\u00a0Lord\u00a0God is\u00a0a sun and\u00a0shield; the\u00a0Lord\u00a0bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who\u00a0walk uprightly.\u00a0\n<p>\u00a0<b>Prayer<\/b><b>&#8230;<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b>Lord\u00a0we celebrate who you are and what you do&#8230; you are all good! Help us to be encouraged by your goodness every day. We thank you for all the goodness you show us continually. We are\u00a0especially\u00a0thankful for the good gift of your son and his death on the cross.
